Getting the pool ready.

Spent our Sunday serving others yesterday instead of in a church. Hard work, but hopefully showed the kids what being a servant can mean. That giving your time and energy can be an example of Christ to those who don't believe. And the pool will be fun once it's filled so they will hopefully look back and remember the fun and not the blisters, sweating and sunburns!

It's taking too long.

Sometimes, amid all the fighting with siblings and eye rolls and overall crankiness, the boy surprises me with sweetness. 

Alex writes his name

Yesterday we were in Tennessee for Charles's birthday. We were trying to pack up the hotel and Alex just kept getting underfoot. I finally got frustrated and wrote his name on a piece of paper and told him to trace his name. He brought me this paper. 

I asked his preschool teacher if they had been working on writing names and she told me that they hadn't. I'm impressed. 

Happiness is....

Snuggling on a very cold day with a sick three year old listening to music and reading books.

I have Alex repeat his prayers after me at night.  I really, really had to hold in my laughter on this one:
