Baseball Pics

This is our first baseball season, and I'm already just about over it. We are in the middle of a stretch of 4 games in 6 days. The last one is tomorrow, then we don't have a game again until next week. I don't think I would mind it as much if Avery was a little more tolerant of the 90 minutes that it takes to play a game. She would much rather be at the playground that is within her sight but isn't allowed to go to, or if she would just be content to play with some of the other little sisters, but for the most part she just wants to run around and keep me from watching.
When Benjamin first played, they had him play catcher. The equipment they initially gave him was way too small and his knees were completely exposed when he squatted down. One of the boys on our teams father played for the Braves for several years and he was nice enough to bring Benjamin his own pads from when he played in the MLB. Elijah was SO jealous and told Benjamin he would never fully appreciate what he was wearing. He tried to explain to him that the equipment he was wearing was actually worn on the field that the Braves played on. I think he may have gotten it then, but it may be years before it really sinks in. Here he is wearing the equipment from Johnny Estrada.

Notice below how much bigger Benjamin is than his teammates?? He's standing next to the coach:

Now here is her highness when she demanded that I actually take a picture of her. Because I never take that child's picture.

No more internet

When we moved into the place we are in now, our neighbors were kind enough to let us use their WiFi access. Well, a moving van pulled up Friday and now we have no more internet access. I am currently sitting in McDonald's getting some stuff done while Elijah and the kids are at church. It isn't any quieter without my children, it's worse because at least mine halfway behave. Is it just the McD's in Tennessee that offer free WiFi? I had to pay $3.0o for this. I wasn't going to pay it, but I figured I would use that much in gas driving all over before I found a place that would offer it. Although I just thought of Panara and Starbucks. Grrr. Oh well. I will go ahead and post a couple of the pics I have on here because I don't know if I will have another chance to post before I leave for New York on Thursday morning. How exciting!!

Palm Sunday

We had been planning on going back up to Tennessee for Easter, so on Palm Sunday Benjamin asked if he could wear his suit to our church down here. I'm all for him getting as much use out of it as possible, so we decided to dress both of them up. The church egg hunt and pot luck were also that day, so we just made a day of it. The picture with Avery crying (isn't there always one with Avery crying???) happened because I had Benjamin scoot down a little to cover up the outlets on the wall, and he just shoved her out of the way with his body. She was mad because that was the spot she had wanted...ahhhh siblings!!

Cake

Elijah, Avery and I went to this historic house in Fairburn for lunch the other day. It is a beautiful old home that was originally built in the early 1800's, but a 'new' home was built on the original foundation in 1910. It is now a restaurant that serves a buffet only...a very high end buffet. I think it was $18 each, one of Elijah's coworkers treated us. It's called The Green Manor. The house is gorgeous, people use it for events and weddings. Here's the link: http://greenmanor.biz/history.htm Everything is homemade on the bar. Ribs, fried chicken, and any side you would think would be in a great restaurant in Georgia. They may have had a salad bar, but I never went! Avery wanted cake desperately, and so we told her if she ate her green beans (which even I ate they were so good) then she could have some cake. The last thing I asked is if it was worth it, and even though my cell video time ran out, she said it really was!

Coloring Eggs

This will be short and sweet, I have tons to do before we hit the road tomorrow. Avery got to color eggs at playgroup last week. She had a blast, but as all 3 year olds do, the girls all lost interest so we moms took over and really enjoyed ourselves. I had to literally catch Avery and have her pose with the one egg she did on her own.

Learning to play UNO

We love playing games in the evenings. Benjamin always wants to play some sort of game. He's very competitive, and I have a hard time getting a game together that we can all enjoy. Any game Avery can play the rest of us find pretty boring. We finally decided to teach Avery to play UNO the other night. It isn't too hard for her in theory. It's just matching numbers and colors, but she looses interest really quickly. She honestly quits about halfway through. The more players you have the longer it goes. Her attention span is something that needs some work. :o) Here are some pictures of us playing before she quit on us:

Baby Jesus....she's a girl.

Yesterday Avery came up to me and had her yellow blanket wrapped around her head and announced "I'm Mary...." At first I didn't know if she was playing wedding or what, so I asked "are you getting married or are you Jesus' mommy?" She gave me the typical you're-an-idiot look and said that she was Jesus' mommy:

After I took her picture she went running out of the room and came back with a babydoll, but was upset that she couldn't hold the doll and the blanket under her chin, so she had me tie it:

So we talked about baby Jesus for a few minutes and I apparently made the horrid mistake of referring to her baby Jesus as a he, because the same look mentioned earlier came rushing back as she said "MY baby Jesus is a GIRL."
